The Blair County Conservation District will be offering grants up to $15,000 to Blair County landowners interested in establishing riparian buffers. Riparian buffers can be a combination of grasses, plants, trees, and shrubs which are planted as permanent vegetation along a stream, river, pond or lake. These buffers will aid in stabilizing eroded banks, act as natural filters of stormwater run-off and will provide wildlife habitat while reducing in stream temperature (a preference of our local trout). For more details regarding the District's policy and procedure for submitting applications or to just learn more about the program see Conservation Programs.
The Blair County Department of Solid Waste and Recycling is now offering FREE computer and television recycling at their Bair County Yard Waste Compost Recycling Facility (off Black Snake Road). For additional details on the program as well as information on those hard to recycle items, see attached flyer. Recycling just makes sense!

The Blair County Conservation District is selling rain barrels with proceeds benefiting educational programming throughout the County.
